Our Vision
Homecooked.
Nothing Frozen.
Not Now. Not Ever!
Brief History
Thai In Town is a reincarnation of the previous, much-loved, Eem Sabai. When Nok and her husband Charles, the owners of Eem Sabai, decided to leave the business on a high note during the first COVID lockdown in 2020 we, along with many people working in the town centre, were heartbroken. Eem Sabai always believed in good food at a reasonable price - something that resonates with many people in Hastings.
Thai In Town was born with the blessing of Nok and Charles who have quietly been supporting us in the background throughout the journey so far.
Menu
Wandee, one of the head chefs at Eem Sabai, loves cooking. She believes in home cooked food, with good ingredients. If it’s not good enough for her household, it’s not good enough for our customers. Everything that we offer has been carefully selected to make sure that we can produce quality dishes without compromise. We have partnered with a local butcher ‘Beak & Tail’ which provides us with the best quality meat. Our menu may be small to start, but there’s so much to discover. Be assured that we have a plan to introduce new dishes in the future. Fried chicken with sticky rice, anyone?
Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten
Most of our curries and stir-fry dishes have vegetarian options. We use vegetable cooking oil for stir-fry and coconut milk in curries. We do not use dairy in our dishes. However, we are currently unable to advertise our food as vegan owing to the mixed food preparation process. We don’t have the resources to swap all the kitchen equipment which is also being used for meat dishes. Most of our food is made to order and therefore the woks are always in constant use. In order to be able to offer the vegan options properly we’d need a separate kitchen. However, we have been able to create a meat-free sauce which we use for our vegetarian dishes. Apart from the kitchen equipment situation, the following vegetarian dishes might be acceptable for vegan
MIXED VEGETABLE GREEN CURRY WITH RICE
MIXED VEGETABLE RED CURRY WITH RICE
MIXED VEGETABLE STIR FRY WITH RICE (we use mushroom sauce instead of oyster sauce)
TOFU AND MIXED VEGETABLE STIR FRY WITH RICE (we use mushroom sauce instead of oyster sauce)
Delivery | Click & Collect
We know that customers’ attitudes towards food purchasing have changed significantly over the years. Delivery service seems to be a go-to option for many. We have now partnered with Just Eat.
‘Click & Collect’ is also available to order from our website. and collect in store within 20 minutes.
Prices
As you are aware price inflation is unavoidable, and to say that the food industry has been taking a big hit is an understatement. With the rising cost of the ingredients, packaging, energy, rent and everything else in between, it’s not easy to keep the prices low. However, we will commit to our old and new customers to try our best.
Environment & Recyclable Packaging
Thai In Town cares about the environment. We are conscious of the impact we have on the planet and our community. We firmly believe in using biodegradable packaging and cutlery to ensure that we leave as little impact to the planet as possible. We are also aware of the litter our business could create, and encourage our customers to hand back the empty container to the shop to be disposed of properly. People and planet before profit.
It has already been a long journey for a business that has just started. Many people in Hastings might have heard about our planning application which attracted nearly 500 supporters. To thank you, we have printed all their names to display inside the shop. Go have a look.
Here we are, doing what we love - food! We look forward to welcoming you to our little kitchen. We heard the chicken green curry is a must! :)
Big hugs to all,
TT Team.
